This debate aims to cover some of the stable, constant aspects of the mission of the Art Encounters Biennale in Timișoara, now, ten years after its first edition, alongside the changes that have occurred over time, from the relationship with the city to the development of the audience and the artistic vision. A biennale always represents a combination of needs from the artistic ecosystem, the host city, and the key participants (artists, organizers, and visitors). However, it is also a platform for destabilizing stagnant systems, raising standards, and encouraging critical thinking. The relevance of the biennale and its role today will conclude this discussion, with the intention of launching topics for the future, not just promoting certainties.
