The history of Atelier 35 dates back to 1970. The concept was materialized by the Artist’s Union, realizing a network of spaces dedicated to experimental art and young artists in the big cities of Romania. The number 35 was considered at the time to be the conventional limit of youth.
Nowadays, Atelier 35 is still an unconventional space that supports contemporary art and young artists, but under this name we recognize only one space, located in the old center of Bucharest. The notoriety of 35 is defined by the historical value of the concept and by the artists who debuted in this place.
The gallery’s activity is always diversified by the initiative and concept of the artists occupying the space, alternating between personal or group exhibitions, conferences and artist talks, managing to maintain the activity monthly.
