The work “Airplanes” is situated within the concept of “Solidarity”, taking contemporary armed conflicts as its point of departure. The ensemble of pieces proposes a reinterpretation of a childhood origami game, involving both the making of paper airplanes and competitions based on flight distance.

Two of the exhibited objects are presented in an incomplete state, allowing the viewer to observe the stages of the making process and to recognize the familiar technique of paper folding. This formal choice creates a direct connection between the playful dimension of childhood experience and the work’s present, tension-laden meanings.

Thus, a familiar and harmless object associated with childhood is transformed, through the use of material, into an almost indestructible form that retains its innocent appearance while acquiring ambivalent connotations.
