I will be touching grass for a while
Behind this work lies a tension between nostalgia and contemporary reality, between the memory of the early digital era and our current dependence on the continuous flow of the internet. The installation visually reinterprets images familiar to an entire generation: the Windows XP "waiting" hourglass, associated with moments of system suspension, and the illustrative figure of the offline dinosaur, a symbol of lost connection. Rather than remaining simple functional iconography, this pause becomes a space for meditation. The work reflects on those rare moments when the internet is unavailable: what remains then? In that imposed interruption, the possibility arises to relearn simple gestures, looking up from the screen, returning to others, to nature, and to a pre-technological era. The installation also integrates a series of computer cursors, those familiar clicking arrows, transformed into oversized objects. Fallen to the earth like asteroids and engulfed in flames, they suggest a symbolic collapse of digital control. The cursor, the very tool through which the user navigates and commands virtual space, becomes an object out of control, abandoned. Through this dramatic imagery, the installation marks a temporary rupture between humans and the digital interface. In the absence of the one controlling the computer, technology falls inert, and attention shifts from virtual space back to the physical world. Ultimately, the installation does not propose a rejection of technology, but rather a reflection on the fragile balance between connectivity and presence, between digital space and the direct experience of reality.
Vertebra
VERTEBRA is an anonymous collective of Gen Z artists who operate as a single artistic identity. By challenging the idea of individualism in art, the group foregrounds the collective entity as the author of the artistic process. Their practice explores diverse themes, ranging from manifesto like works and social commentary to generational nostalgia and uncertainties regarding the future.
