Francesco Bergamo

Architect —

Francesco Bergamo, PhD in Design Sciences and architect, is Associate Professor of Drawing at the Iuav University of Venice (Italy). His research focuses on the genealogies and contemporary relevance of theories and methods of representation in architecture, design, the arts, and sound ecology. As a member of the research unit Imago rerum, he has worked on the representation of complex ecosystems with John Luther Adams and on James Turrell’s Roden Crater Project. He coordinates the SSH! (Sound Studies Hub) research center and the LaSD (Instrumental Laboratory for Teaching) at the Iuav University of Venice. He is a member of the editorial board of Vesper. Journal of Architecture, Arts and Theory and the author of publications on the history of methods of representation and on the relationship between acoustic ecology and architectural representation. In 2023, he guest-edited with Agostino De Rosa and Alessio Bortot an issue of AD Architectural Design titled “In Praise of Penumbra”.
