Suzana Vasilescu
Suzana Vasilescu (b.1988) is a Romanian art historian, curator, gallerist, and art advisor. She is the Founder and Director of SUPRAINFINIT Gallery in
Bucharest, a leading platform for experimental and emerging practices, and the co-founder of Ans Azura, an innovative online auction and collecting platform dedicated to artists from Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Suzana holds a BA in Art History and an MBA from ASEBUSS School of Business Management, Romania’s most prestigious business school. Her work spans curation, advising, andinstitution-building.
She is also on the Board and Acquisition Committee of the Museum of Recent Art (MARe), the first private art museum opened in Romania in the last century.
Suzana’s career has been marked by milestones that have shaped Romania’s contemporary art ecosystem. As Director of the Post-modern and Contemporary Art Department at Artmark Auction House (2009–2012), she organised the country’s first auction dedicated solely to postmodern and contemporary art. She later directed the inaugural edition of the Art Encounters Biennale in Timișoara (2015) and, in 2022, co-founded RAD Art Fair, the first international Romanian art fair, now a landmark for artists, collectors, and curators alike.
Her curatorial achievements also include organising “The Picasso Effect”, the first major Picasso exhibition in Romania in fifty years.
Most recently, Suzana was instrumental in founding NOCA – New Oradea Contemporary Art, the first contemporary art center in Romania initiated and funded by
a local administration (the Oradea Heritage and the Municipality of Oradea). Conceived as a “cultural laboratory,” NOCA aims to connect local and international art communities through exhibitions, education, and creative dialogue.
