LeiLei Gallery is a new presence on the contemporary art scene in Romania. It was founded in 2020 by visual artist Leilei Chen, who came to Bucharest to study visual arts at the National University of Arts. After a similar experience in China where she also studied visual arts, Leilei decided to open an exhibition space in Bucharest to promote cultural dialogue between the two scenes of contemporary art, European and Asian. Her experience as an artist gives her a good perspective on the art world, and her passion for promoting stylistic diversity and contemporary creation is evident in every aspect regarding the gallery.
Since its debut on the Romanian art scene, the gallery’s mission has been to promote and stimulate both the local contemporary creation, in all its diversity, and its connection with the international art scene. The gallery proposes transgenerational and transmedial exhibition projects, involving both established artists and young emerging artists, promoting at the same time various artistic practices, from painting and sculpture to video art, installation, performance, sound experiments, etc.
