MATCA artspace is an artist-run space managed and curated by three visual artists (Matei Toșa, Alexandru Muraru and Alexandra Mocan) since the beginning of 2017. The three have regenerated a former leather workshop – which has been converted into an exhibition space.

In their projects, MATCA aims to highlight how art is currently formulated, especially locally, while the exhibitions presented here are in tune with global values and landmarks that are constantly shaping and reshaping.

Beyond anything else, MATCA develops a community of artists around itself, in a local context (Cluj-Napoca) that has become increasingly precarious in recent years in terms of artistic representation and support.
