RAD 2025 Curatorial Summit brings together 30 Curators Across 17 Countries

May 10th, 2025

The RAD 2025 Curatorial Summit brought together 30 curators and art professionals from 17 countries for an intensive five-day program exploring the evolving role of curators in addressing critical geopolitical, social, and environmental challenges. Part of the annual, RAD Curatorial program, the summit continues to foster dialogue, knowledge exchange, collaboration, and community building, strengthening the Romanian art scene and its presence within regional and global contexts.

Titled Shifting Tides: Knots and the Poetics of Relation, this edition centered on the navigation knot as a metaphor for anchoring, re-routing, and relational encounters amid shifting global conditions. Participants engaged in three curatorial discussions and an off-site program featuring guided tours of Bucharest’s galleries, collections, institutions, and artist studios, complemented by thematic dinners, RAD VIP activities, and networking events.

Discussions ranged from institutional critique to migration and speculative world-building, challenging hegemonic frameworks through fluid, transcultural, rhizomatic, decolonial, and decentering perspectives.
