Meet the Scene: RAD Curatorial 2027 Opens Applications
RAD Association announces the Open Call for RAD Curatorial 2027, a five-day curatorial programme taking place in Bucharest, Romania, from April 20β25, 2027. Now in its fifth edition, the programme invites curators, art writers and curatorial collectives from Romania and around the world to meet the scene firsthand, discover its many voices and explore the ideas shaping contemporary art in Romania and across Central and Eastern Europe.
Since its launch in 2023, RAD Curatorial has welcomed more than 90 curators from over 40 countries across four continents. Through discussions, guided visits, studio tours and encounters with artists, galleries and cultural institutions, the programme has grown into a platform for exchange, research and new professional connections, bringing international perspectives into conversation with the Romanian art scene.
The 2027 edition takes SHIFTING GROUNDS as its point of departure, looking at how changing geopolitical, economic and social structures are reshaping cultural landscapes, systems of representation and established hierarchies. With Romania and the wider Central and Eastern European region as points of reference, the programme will consider emerging cultural networks and centres, the evolving role of curators, and new approaches to institutional collaboration and public engagement.
The five-day programme will include visits to public and private collections, galleries, cultural institutions and artistsβ studios, alongside three public curatorial discussions and informal encounters with local and international practitioners. Participants will also have access to the wider RAD Art Fair programme, including RAD Talks, Sculpture Park, RAD Design, RAD Editions, RAD Performance and Collateral Events.
The Open Call is addressed to curators, art writers and curatorial collectives with at least three years of professional experience and a demonstrated interest, research focus or expertise in Romanian and/or Central and Eastern European art scenes. The programme will take place in person and will be conducted in English.
